Tobacco use remains a significant public health challenge in India, claiming over 13 lakh lives every year. According to officials, TFYC 3.0 seeks to curb tobacco consumption among young citizens through awareness programs, educational activities, and community engagement.

The campaign will focus on:

  • Raising awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco use.

  • Promoting tobacco-free campuses and learning spaces.

  • Engaging students, teachers, and parents in preventive measures.

  • Encouraging behavioral change among youth to reduce tobacco consumption.

Officials emphasized that protecting students from the health risks of tobacco is a national priority. The campaign will also strengthen existing tobacco control measures under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) and support India’s commitment to achieving better public health outcomes.

With the launch of TFYC 3.0, the government aims to foster a generation of tobacco-free youth, contributing to a healthier and more productive future for the country.
