Dubai-based GEMS Education has announced a major expansion plan in India, committing up to USD 30 million (approximately ₹283.7 crore) over the next three to five years. The initiative aims to significantly expand its footprint in the country’s K–12 education sector through new schools, partnerships, and teacher development programs.

Expansion Plan Focuses on Schools, Partnerships, and Training

As part of its India growth strategy, GEMS Education plans to establish:

·         More than 30 GEMS-operated schools

·         A network of over 1,000 partner schools

·         A dedicated teacher training and education leadership institute

The company stated that the initiative is designed to improve access to quality education and strengthen learning outcomes across its expanding network.

Initial Pipeline of 21 School Projects Identified

GEMS Education India has already identified an initial pipeline of 21 school projects under its expansion roadmap. The first phase of schools is expected to become operational from the 2026 academic year.

The rollout will initially cover key regions including:

·         Greater Mumbai

·         Uttar Pradesh

·         Kerala

·         Rajasthan

Teacher Training and Education Leadership Development

A key component of the expansion includes setting up a dedicated institute focused on:

·         Teacher training and upskilling

·         Leadership development programs

·         Educational research and innovation

According to the company, this initiative will help improve teaching quality and strengthen long-term academic outcomes across partner institutions.

Global Network of GEMS Education

GEMS Education, part of the Dubai-based Varkey Group, is among the world’s largest private K–12 school operators. The group currently educates over 200,000 students from more than 176 nationalities across 10 countries.

Its schools operate multiple curricula, including national and international education frameworks.

Long-Term Vision Aligned With Education Growth in India

The expansion aligns with GEMS Education’s broader strategy of strengthening its presence in India’s growing private education market. The company said the initiative supports long-term education development goals and aligns with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

The project is expected to create wider access to structured learning pathways for students while also generating professional development opportunities for educators.

Phase-Wise Implementation Strategy

The expansion will be implemented in phases, beginning with school development and gradually scaling into a larger partner ecosystem.

The company aims to build a combined education network that integrates owned schools, partner institutions, and training support systems to improve consistency in teaching standards and learning outcomes.
